Breaking News from Chicago in the past few minutes. The Cubs have just made a trade with the Oakland A's. The Cubs receive Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin for Matt Murton, Sean Gallagher, Eric Patterson and a minor leaguer.
On the surface this is a great trade for the Cubs. Rich Harden is having a terrific season with a 5-1 record with a 2.34 ERA. Gaudin is also a good reliever with a 3.59 ERA. The Cubs pitching staff which has been good just got a whole lot better. The knock on Harden though has always been his health. He has shown glimpses of being a top tier pitcher but has always battled health issues.
The Brewers have made their move. The Cubs have now made theirs. What does it mean for the Cardinals and does it change their plans? That remains the question. This is the first test for the Cardinals New General Manager John Mozeliak. The clock is ticking lets see what he has up his sleeve.
