This has got to be the end for the Cardinals doesn't it? How in the world can the Cardinals have their throats stepped on for four straight by the Brewers and still salvage their season. It is not too much to say that this series has a very high probablilty of being a season killer.
The bullpen is a complete mess and if John Mozeliak doesn't want to do something about the bullpen then the Cardinals should be sellers now at the trade deadline. I know that line of thinking isn't too popular to the fan base but if management is not going to trade prospects than it is time to sell.
I want to blame the bullpen again for tonight's loss, and Ryan Franklin gave a room-service fastball to Ryan Braun, but in reality the Cardinals should have been blown out in the game tonight. Todd Wellemeyer was awful and was lucky to get through the innings that he did.
I don't know what the answer is at this point. The hitting again went into a funk after putting 3 runs up. The starting pitching can't get deep into games and we all know about the bullpen. What do you do?
I don't have the answers but this team is in a free fall right now with the prospect of having Mitchell Boggs tomorrow night against the New York Mets. The New York Mets team that just moved into first place and are beginning to look like the team they were supposed to be this season.
This season is falling apart quickly. I hope there is a miracle cure that the GM and the Manager have up their sleeve or it may be a long August and September. Thank goodness football is around the corner.
