Please Enjoy Missouri Football

Dear Missouri Tigers Fans,

Please enjoy this football season. What is happening in Columbia this season is something that doesn't happen that often in sports. I have seen this only one other time in St. Louis sports history and that was the 1999 Rams. While those Rams came from nowhere to win the Super Bowl this Tigers team was expected to be good but they are beyond good. The Tigers are on that next level of being extraordinary. I can't believe I would ever write this next sentence but I will now say it out loud.....

The Missouri Tigers are the best college football team in the country. Period.

I have grown up through some horrible times in Missouri football and being a Tigers fan has meant to expect the worst to happen but things are different now. I know how good Oklahoma is. I know how many good teams there are in the SEC. I know the trip to Texas will be tough but I am now 100% sold that none of it will matter now because this year is a year of destiny.

Chase Daniel is playing at a level much like Kurt Warner did in 1999 where things are "easy". Whatever Missouri wants to do offensively they can do. If Daniel can't get it to Jeremy Maclin then he'll find Chase Coffman. If that isn't open there are multiple other receivers who are competent. If that doesn't work they'll just hand the ball off to Derrick Washington who is good for 5 yards a carry at worst. It all is just so easy for them right now.

This is not to say that it will be a cakewalk. Oklahoma State will be a step up in competition but the fact is that the only teams in this country that have the capability of beating Missouri reside in the top 10. The rest just aren't going to be able to keep up. The defense remains a concern but and I can't believe I am about to write this sentence but.....

Chase Daniel will bring the Heisman Trophy and the National Championship trophy to Columbia.

This is a season that dreams are made of. You can see it in Gary Pinkel's eyes and hear it in his voice. He knows how special this team is and he can't contain his enthusiasm.

The Missouri Tigers are special. Things like this happen once in a lifetime or now it appears twice. I never thought I would see it happen again but we are seeing it now. Please enjoy this.
