Highland, IL (KMOV.com) – At least one person was seriously injured in a two vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on Interstate 70 near Highland, Illinois.
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70 just west of the Highway 160 interchange.
A pick-up truck towing a load of lumber appeared to go off the road and onto the shoulder, flipping and trapping at least one person.
A second vehicle, a car, sustained what appeared to be minor damage down the side of the vehicle. That car also ended up in the tall grass on the shoulder facing the wrong direction.
The westbound lanes of I-70 were shut down at the accident scene so an emergency helicopter could land.
Traffic was moving slowly through the area a short time later.
No word on what caused the accident.
Illinois State Police and first responders from Highland Pierron Fire were called to the scene.
