(KMOV) – A woman faces charges after she allegedly stabbed her 19-year-old ex-boyfriend to death in north St. Louis on Sunday.

Kaila Chambers, 17, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Chambers turned herself into police around 5 p.m. Tuesday night, two days after she allegedly stabbed Thearon Maxey to death inside a home in the 3100 block of Clay.

Police say Chambers stabbed Maxey in the chest with a butcher’s knife during an argument. Maxey was later found unconscious on the front porch. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Chambers is being held in custody without bond.
