( – Two St. Louis County sites could be the home to a new soccer complex.

A plan is being proposed to build a $12 million soccer complex in Creve Coeur Park and in Chesterfield Valley. The plan calls for building soccer, lacrosse and field hockey fields, a sand volleyball court and a hotel complex.

St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley told News 4 the complex would attract tournaments, which hold events both in Chesterfield and Creve Coeur Park.

"In order to have it consolidated it takes a great deal of money. It could be in excess of $50 to $70 million dollars. We don't have that kind of money," Dooley said.

Others are disputing the cost. County Councilman Mike O’Meara said Dooley is exaggerating the price tag of having the entire complex in one location.

“It's a very mismanaged proposal with scattered fields throughout instead of having one destination complex," O’Meara said.

There is also disagreement on how the complex should be run. Dooley told News 4 he favors having an outside group run the complex.

"We got a great marketing team,” Dooley said. “The ones who marketed overland park, they are experts at it, we are not. We assembled a great team of people to bring soccer tournaments to St. Louis area."

O’Meara does not agree.

"They're going to bring in an outside firm in to run soccer complex where we have professional knowledge of soccer personnel who can manage their own field and tournament and then money stays in St. Louis County," O’Meara said.

The St. Louis County Council has yet to act on the proposal.
