(KMOV) – The Belleville City Council on Monday voted to demolish the Loflin Furniture and Appliances store, according to the Belleville News-Democrat.
According to the report, the council agreed to fork over $26,000 for the building to be demolished.
The building on W. Main St. was bought by the city for nearly $160,000 a year and a half ago.
Belleville Mayor Mark Eckert says paying close to $200,000 to acquire it and tear it down is all part of a bigger plan.
Eckert says he wants to make the area a green space that would truly mark the beginning of Belleville.
