Officials investigate possible cougar sighting in Crawford County

Conservation officials are investigating after a resident reported seeing a cougar roaming the woods near Bourbon, Mo.

 

An officer was patrolling Crawford County overnight Monday when he spotted an animal he could not identify. Believing it may be a cougar, Missouri Department of Conservation officials are looking for tracks and droppings and using a motion sensor game camera to resolve the mystery.

Police are also asking residents in the area to be on the lookout for possible Cougar sightings.

Since 1994, there have been 45 confirmed mountain lion sightings in Missouri. Some of those sightings included St. Louis, Warren and Gasconade counties.
