(KMOV) – A new and enhanced pedestrian crossing will be unveiled at a busy north St. Louis County intersection on Monday.
The new crossing is located on Page Ave. just west of Dielman Rd. Officials say it is the first of its kind in St. Louis.
The new crossing is different in that it will remain turned off until a pedestrian hits a button. Once the button is pressed, a flashing yellow light will change to a solid yellow, which will then turn red.
When the pedestrians see the flashing don’t walk indicator, motorists will see two alternating flashing red lights. If there are no pedestrians in the crosswalk during the flashing red, motorists can proceed only after they have come to a full stop and the pedestrian path is clear.
