(KMOV) -- The Missouri Highway Patrol on Monday will begin cracking down on seat belts in its latest “Click it or Ticket” campaign.

As part of the campaign, Missouri troopers will put extra focus on enforcing the state's seat belts law. Those caught not wearing a seat belt can expect to pay around $50.

The highway patrol says the "Click it or Ticket" campaign is used to reduce the number of fatal crashes.

According to Missouri Department of Transportation statistics, more than 750 people were killed in accidents on Missouri roadways last year. Out of that number, 63 percent of victims were not wearing seat belts.

The campaign overlaps with Memorial Day weekend, when drivers can expect to see Missouri state troopers every 20 miles on major interstates and highways.
