(BaseballStL) – In his last two outings, Shelby Miller hasn’t pitched longer than 5.1 innings. But despite the rough outings he's given his team a chance to win which means Miller is looking for his sixth win.
Saturday he’ll battle against 36-year-old veteran Aaron Harang.
Against the Braves, Miller doesn’t have much experience, only 54 total at-bats. He has given up a lone homer to Freddie Freeman.
The Redbirds on the other hand have had 138 at-bats against the Braves right hander. Harang is 4-3 on the season with a 2.98 ERA. Jhonny Peralta has 2 homers while Peter Bourjos, who was ejected from Friday’s game, also has a home run against Harang.
LaRussa’s new gig
Former manager Tony LaRussa has a new job in baseball and it isn’t with any of his former teams. Instead the 69-year-old has been hired as the Arizona Diamondbacks new Chief Baseball Officer.
The Diamondbacks made the announcement Saturday. As of Saturday, the Diamondbacks have a 16-28 record.
“The entire organization is obviously frustrated with the results on the field,” team CEO Derrick Hall said, “and we are looking to improve.”
