(KMOV) –- Two area police officers saved a man’s life in the nation’s capital.
The Lake County Indiana Pipe and Drum Band were leading the ceremony for National Police week in Washington, D.C. when a member collapsed.
Officer Gary Robertson of St. Louis County and a paramedic from Florida ran to save the man’s life. They performed CPR and used a defibrillator.
"I simply walked up to hand him a bottle of water thinking it was a heat related illness, and it ended up being a cardiac arrest,” said Robertson.
News 4 is told the band member will be ok.
