(KMOV.com) – A St. Louis County Police officer is being called a hero for jumping into action during a visit to Washington D.C.

Officer Gary Robertson rushed to help save the life of another man while marching in a National Police Week Parade on Wednesday.

Robertson and another first responder from Florida performed chest compressions and used a defibrillator to help the man who was having a heart attack while marching.

“I simply walked up to hand him a bottle of water thinking it was a heart related illness, and it ended up being a cardiac arrest” said Robertson.
