WILLIAMSON, Ill. (AP) -- Authorities say a man who suffered a health crisis in a southwestern Illinois tavern had $100 pilfered from his wallet by a fellow patron who used the money to buy a round of drinks.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports 32-year-old Bryan Kuegler of Livingston is charged with felony theft.
Madison County sheriff’s Capt. T. Michael Dixon says the victim reported he was in the Rock Bottom Bar in Williamson on May 5 when he collapsed from a suspected heart attack.
Dixon says surveillance footage shows Kuegler taking the man’s wallet, going to a restroom and returning, discarding the wallet on the floor.
A man who answered a telephone Thursday at a home listing for Kuegler identified himself as Kuegler’s grandfather and declined comment.
