(KMOV) -- Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed a man to death outside the downtown St. Louis Public Library on Wednesday.
According to police, the stabbing happened near the intersection of 13th and Olive around 11:10 a.m.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect, who police have identified, fled the scene and remains at large.
Library spokesman Gerald Brooks told The Associated Press that the attack involved a jealous ex-boyfriend who saw his former girlfriend with another man.
He emphasized that the incident "had nothing to do with the library but just happened outside on our sidewalk."
Authorities did not confirm that information.
