(KMOV) – Business owners are “digging deep” in Valmeyer, Illinois to create jobs.
“The Underground” is a labrynth of old limestone quarries in Valmeyer – and thanks to the vision of the developer, Joe Koppeis, it’s now an industrial park featuring offices, warehouse space and storage for the national archives and records administration.
The temperature inside the caves is always in the 50s, so tenants spend very little on heating and cooling. The rent is $6 per square foot, compared to $20 for ordinary commercial space.
