BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- One of two men accused in the murder in southwestern Illinois of a fellow homeless man now faces charges he sexually attacked the victim during the alleged torture.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports St. Clair County prosecutors charged 41-year-old Dennis Iagulli with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
Iagulli and James Pierson already had been charged with first-degree murder and concealing a homicidal death in the June killing of 22-year-old Zachary Irvin.
Police allege the suspects killed Irvin in June in an abandoned freight warehouse near East St. Louis' riverfront. Irvin's dismembered body was later found smoldering nearby.
Iagulli's attorney, Tom Keefe, declined to comment Tuesday, saying he is still receiving potential evidence from authorities.
