(KMOV) – Police have a sketch of the man wanted for stabbing a military recruiter in the Metro East last week.

Police say the man is a black man, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches with a stocky build and about 20 years old.

The suspect is accused of stabbing a recruiter at the Armed Forces Career Center near St. Clair Square Mall.

According to Lt. John Proffitt, an Air Force recruiter walked into the center around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, to a man sitting in the waiting area. The recruiter asked the man if he was interested in joining the military. He turned to get some paperwork. At that point the man lunges toward him with a pair of scissors, stabbing him in the thigh.

The man left the center either on foot or in a vehicle outside. The suspect was said to have been wearing a red baseball cap, red shirt, and dark blue jeans.

The victim did not know the suspect. The victim's injuries are non-life threatening.
