(KMOV) – Crews have begun the final stages of the new Dorsett Road at Interstate 270 interchange.
Crews have closed the entrance and exit ramps of the interchange so workers can finish the new diamond interchange.
While all lanes are expected to be open by Monday’s morning rush hour, the intersection will look completely different.
The diverging diamond interchange is the first one constructed in St. Louis and is only the fourth one built in the country. The diamond pattern sends drivers into what is usually the opposing lanes of traffic. MoDOT says this will eliminate the need for vehicles to cross on-coming traffic to make left turns to enter I-270.
