Local fitness center members upset over fees, but no access

Posted: Updated:

(KMOV) – Hundreds of members who pay to use the Bally’s Total Fitness Center near Clayton have not been able to access the facility after it was forced to close because of a fire on Memorial Day.

Members like Barbara Carnes say they like the low membership fee, but they are not happy with paying for services they can’t use.

Members say they’ve heard nothing from the facility or its corporate office.

A spokesman for Bally’s told News 4 that the club sustained extensive water damage and the renovations took longer than expected, but are almost complete.

The club is said be open by the end of October or beginning of November at the latest.

Bally’s also says they encourage people to get in touch with them through their member services center to discuss possible refunds or compensation on a case-by-case basis.

Members can reach them at 1-866-402-2559.

News 4’s Laurie Waters was allowed inside the club and is reporting that there is new flooring and the exercise equipment and video monitors are up.
