(KMOV) -- A man is charged with molesting a young girl in a hot tub at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.
Kevin Weckherlin, 29, of Warrenton was charged with felony child molestation.
Authorities say the alleged abuse happened on October 1st and was reported another visitor at the pool. The visitors told police that she could not see exactly what happened in the hot tub, but she reported what seemed like unusual behavior between the 29-year-old man and the 10-year-old girl.
St. Peters police tell news four Weckherlin is a friend of the girl's family. He apparently got permission from the girl's mother to take the girl and her two younger siblings to the pool.
After the witness reported the behavior in the hot tub, a life guard alerted park rangers who initiated the investigation. St. Peters Police say that a child advocacy investigator interviewed the girl. According to a probable cause statement, filed in court, the girl told the investigator that Weckherlin touched her under her swimsuit in the hot tub.
Weckherlin is in the St. Charles County Jail. He is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
