(KMOV) -- Two people are dead and several others are injured in major accident that forced part of Interstate 44 to close Sunday evening.
The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. on westbound Interstate 44 at Antire Road.
Police tell News 4 that Joshua Passiglia, 20, of St. Louis was driving eastbound on I-44 when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median and hit two westbound vehicles. Passiglia died after being ejected from the vehicle.
The Muxlow family of Richland, Missouri was in one of the cars that Passiglia hit. Mary Muxlow, 27, a passenger in the vehicle, was killed in the wreck. Four others who were in the car were injured. Chad Muxlow, 39, is in critical condition. Chase Muxlow, 16, and Anna Muxlow, 10, are in satisfactory condition. Tyler Muxlow, 7, was also injured in the crash, but no information is being released about his condition.
The other car that was involved in the crash was driven by Kathy Neiger of High Ridge, Missouri. Neiger's car was damaged, but she was not seriously injured.
No word yet on what caused Passiglia to lose control of his vehicle.
