Lincoln County: Home invasion victim strikes thief in head with baseball bat

(KMOV) – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a recent string of home invasions – one in which a victim fought off one of the intruders with a baseball bat.

This happened at a home in the 200 block of Steven Drive in Hawk Point last week.

Investigators say two men forced their way into the home. One of the suspects was able to steal the homeowner’s wallet, but the man grabbed a baseball bat and hit the suspect in the head.

The victim’s wife and children were present at the time of the incident.

The burglars escaped on foot.

Authorities say this is just one of many recent Lincoln County burglaries. Since mid-August, detectives say they’ve investigated nearly 20 burglaries.

Detectives are warning citizens to lock their homes when they leave, and to keep an eye out for unusual or suspicious vehicle or persons in their neighborhoods.

Anyone who believes they may have information about the recent string of burglaries in Lincoln County is encouraged to contact the detectives with the Sheriff's Office at (636) 528-8546.
