(KMOV) -- A man is charged after a woman was assaulted in her Kirkwood home early Thursday morning.
Sean Adams, 19, has been charged with Burglary, Assault, Forcible Rape, Forcible sodomy, and Armed Criminal Action. Adams is the son of Kirkwood's Finance Director, John Adams.
Authorities said Adams allegedly entered the victim's home through an unlocked back door around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning on Harrison. The victim woke up to Adams allegedly wearing a ski mask and armed with a knife. She was assaulted and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Adams' intent was to burglarize the home and harm the female homeowner.
Police also say Adams may have jogged in the area and observed the victim's patterns. They used dogs to track him down at his residence, which was not far from the victim.
The victim was in her 50's and lived alone. Police say she is doing as well as can be expected after an incident like that. They added that she is a strong lady who fought hard.
Bond was set at $1,000,000.
