Female crash test dummies now used in government testing

(KMOV) – We’ve all seen the crash test dummies the government uses to test new cars. But until now they’ve only tested the effects of crashes on men.

New crash test dummies are taking into account the smaller bodies of women and what happens during a crash. They are also being featured in some new, stricter testing the government is doing on new cars.

It’s all adding up to a tougher test for automakers, and a good number of cars are having a tougher time with the tests.

The Toyota Camry last year won five stars, but now only gets three.

The idea is to give people more detailed information on how well cars can do when accidents happen.
