(KMOV) -- One person was severely injured after a serious accident on Interstate 70 and Highway T.

The accident, involving one passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer, happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, in Warren County.

According to police, the 50-year-old truck driver was burned on more than 55 percent of his body. He was transported by helicopter to St. John’s Hospital.

Authorities have confirmed that the passenger car was unoccupied. It had been disabled and abandoned an hour prior to the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was distracted and hit the van.

Skyzoom 4 showed firefighter extinguishing the flames that engulfed the tractor-trailer.

Westbound traffic on I-70 was closed at the scene, but the Missouri Highway Patrol confirms one lane has been reopened. Traffic eastbound is moving.
