(KMOV) -- Two men were arrested after a bank robbery in Town and Country.
It happened just after 11:00 a.m. at the UMB Bank in the 13900 block of Manchester Road.
Witnesses reported that a black male entered the bank through the main customer entrance and approached a teller with a handwritten note. After reading the note, the teller handed the suspect money from the bank drawer. The suspect then put the money in his pants pocket and exited the bank lobby.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the suspect fleeing the bank on foot toward the east side of the Manchester Meadows shopping complex. Bank officials immediately dialed 9-1-1 and notified the Town and Country Police of the robbery.
St. Louis County police tell News 4 that an off-duty St. Louis County officer spotted a car believed to be involved in the robbery just after it happened.
At the same time, a St. Louis County helicopter was lifting off and spotted the car.
Authorities followed the car into Chesterfield where the suspect was pulled over at a Shell gas station at Highway 40 and Olive.
Police arrested the two men.
No word yet on how much money the alleged robbers got away with.
