(KMOV) -- A dog is being credited with saving his owner from a house fire.

The fire started around 2:00 a.m. on Monday in the 700 block of Military Avenue.

Fire officials say the home did not have any working smoke alarms.

The dog started barking, woke up his owner and they both got out safely.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to knock out the flames. The home suffered heavy interior damage.

Investigators believe this was an electrical fire.
