The Cards stole one tonight at Cincinnati with Mitchell Boggs going five innings for the win. But how costly will the win be? Albert needed help getting off the field in the 7th after injuring the same calf that he hurt last week. Thankfully, Ryan Ludwick had a monster night at the plate. With Albert out (we have to assume he'll miss SOME time), look for a platoon of Joe Mather and Chris Duncan at first base. G.M. John Mozeliak said Duncan was likely to be called up sometime this week anyway.
Ken Griffey Jr. has been so diminished by age and injury in recent years that it's easy to forget how dynamic he was in his 20's. He was as talented as anyone I've ever seen--a true five tool star. Sammy Sosa is also in the 600 homer club but, in my opinion, Sosa wasn't the complete player that Griffey was. Not even close.
Good to see SIU-Edwardsville making the move to Division One. We can use another D-1 hoops program to cover. Tim Klutsarits has more on that topic in the KMOV Sports Blog.
I'm checking out game three of the NBA Finals and Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo just limped off with an ankle injury. I didn't expect Boston to win this one but they were only down six at the half. But I don't think the combo of Eddie House and Sam Cassell can handle the point guard duties the rest of the way.
