The East-West Gateway Council is considering making drastic changes to S. Grand Blvd. between Arsenal and Utah. The council has looked at nine different proposals to make S. Grand a "destination point" and has narrowed the ideas down to three concepts. One of the concepts would mean reducing the number of lanes on Grand from 4 to 2 (plus a 3rd center turn lane) and adding curb extensions at the intersections.
This month, the council with help from the city street's department is testing that concept. They've put up barricades to simulate the curb extensions and changed the lane configurations and signal timing.

There is a hot-line number set up to take your options. The number is 314-776-2423.
There is also a public meeting tonight (Thursday, September 10th) at the St. Pius Catholic Church. It's 3310 S. Grand Blvd. in St. Louis. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and is expected to last until 9 p.m.
