College Students Fight Cuts to Scholarships, Grants

Budget woes in Illinois led to cuts in scholarships and grants for college students across the state. The funds for the Monetary Assistance Program were slashed and students, who were promised grant funding this school year, are learning that the money won't be available starting next semester.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville says one out of four students at the school will lose $500 to $2,200 in tuition help each semester.

Tomorrow SIUE is holding a hearing in hopes students will speak out tomorrow. Details on the hearing can be found here.

Across the state, students at other schools are learning of a planned rally at the state capitol in Springfield next month.
