Both the FBI and Homeland Security just wanted cities to be aware of the possible threats nationwide, against stadiums, hotels and even transit systems. It's true that it seems the most direct danger may have been in a city like New York. And while St Louis has no direct threats, from what we are being told, no one here is willing to take anything for granted.
It's true that many of us can feel a certain security here in the middle of the country that people in New York or Los Angeles may not feel. But being complacent about this can be a mistake, and it seems the task force of federal and state authorities who keep local officials informed are staying vigilant on this.
The evidence will be during the baseball playoffs when, once again, we'll see the tight security at the stadium.
