You probably heard the Rams lost today. We met some unhappy football fans after the game. Not because of the game. But what happened during the game. While they were inside the Edward Jones Dome somebody was breaking into their cars.
They were parked in a lot on the Illinois side just north of the Ads Bridge. It's a lot used for 18-wheelers during the week so on weekends it's empty. That means people see it as free. And that means that it's become a popular place to park before a football game.
The thief, or thieves, were probably experienced. This wasn't a crude "smash & grab" which would mean broken windows and draw attention. Whoever did it used some sort of tool to jam it into the driver's side door and pop the lock. One woman whose car was broken into said it looked like certain vehicles were targeted. The "family" vehicles that looked like they might have a purse left inside while the people were at the game. One man we talked with told us he lost his GPS, laptop computer, hockey equipment, stereo and speakers. Insurance will cover the losses in many cases but there will be the time, the hassle and the inconvenience.
That free parking was pretty expensive today.
