The familiar phrase of, "if you see something, say something", was put into practice at a South St Louis County school.
A parent at Bernard Middle School watched a suspicious car during the student drop off in the morning. With no child inside and moving in a odd manner, one parent called police who found the driver to have outstanding traffic warrants. Not an earth-shattering development, but an example of people being aware and doing the right thing.
Police say this driver, who seemed incoherent, did not have any prior arrests, and was not trying to talk with students. But he also was not able to explain why he was on school property. It's quite possible nothing would have ever happened had not police been called, but at least one person wasn't willing to take that chance. And tonight maybe many more parents will be watching with a closer eye from now on.
