I just finished a live shot at police headquarters downtown. We are waiting on new information from the department about that off duty officer and the other victims... as well as charges against the suspects. We went by the scene just before the live shot and saw officers questioning someone. (A girl) They asked us to "give them a little time" and we did. Sure, we could have taken pictures (our right on a public street) and that might have given our coverage an advantage briefly, but we could have likewise angered officers who'd been up all night investigating a near fatal shooting of one of their own. It was a judgement call that I hope I don't end up regretting.
