Yes, that's exactly what I did this afternoon... for a good several hundred yards I might add. I didn't even get pulled over.
Hours before the reopening of the MLK Bridge after $1.4-million in safety improvements, we were allowed to drive on it to get video as crews were wrapping things up.
I drove as my videographer colleague hung his camera out the window to take the pictures. Once we got about halfway, there were work trucks in the way and they weren't moving. There was no room to turn around in the single-lane westbound-lane (in which I'd been traveling east) so I put our SUV in reverse and backed her up all the way back to the entrance ramp.
It wasn't the most comfortable thing to do but as I did it I smiled thinking it was one of those things no one else will ever do... not after the bridge reopens tonight.... at least I hope not.
