All the rain we've had has turned our rivers into dangerous places. And two 12 year old boys found that out on Thursday. Bradley Edwards was fishing with his friend when he slipped and fell in. His friend, Michael Melchoir tried to pull him out, but when he couldn't he did the next best thing. He stayed calm and got help and led rescuers to the spot. Bradely managed to hold on to a large rock in the river and waited for firefighters in a rescue boat to save him.
During the half hour or so that Bradley was holding on, Michael says he kept talking with his friend, just talking about "stuff". It was enough to keep them both calm.
The Meramec River is high, swift and very murky and this could have easily turned tragic. But the boys kept their cool and got out of there safe.
