The one year I have no intention of going to Mardi Gras, I go and have the best time I've ever had in the almost six years I have been here.
I learned the secret. First, get a good meal at a Benton Park restaurant where a shuttle is being offered. Then, let the shuttle drop you in the heart of Soulard and go to a party. Don't just radomly roam the streets. At least I found that to be less obnoxious, and if you can, get into one of the Bud Light tents. It's warm and there is music, food and drink.
Jason and I met his brother Brian and his fiance Christy at a party.
The party was cohosted by Tim Forneris. Seen here in Mardi Gras disguise.
If his name sounds familiar, it's either A. Because Tim is one of the friendliest people on the planet or B. Because Tim is the groundskeeper who caught Mark McGuire's 62nd home run ball and gave it back to McGuire.
He also happens to be the very first person I interviewed when I came to St. Louis.
We all had a blast. It was nice to be out of touch with the news that day, forget the state of our country and enjoy friends. I will be back next year.
Now it's time to train for the St. Patrick's Day run. It's two weeks from Saturday. I hope to see you there!
