ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis police say they have caught and charged a suspect who has been posing as a Laclede Gas Company worker to enter homes and allegedly rob the elderly.
They say a woman dialed 911 Thursday afternoon after a man matching the suspect's description said he was a gas worker and tried to come in her home.
Three police officers found the man a short time later.
On Friday, they named him as 41-year-old Samuel Jamison of St. Louis, who faces 12 counts including burglary, attempted burglary, robbery and stealing.
He is suspected in a string of thefts in south St. Louis since July 22. He allegedly posed as a gas worker in each case, targeted the elderly, and attempted to rob them once inside.
