(KMOV) – The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District is urging residents to stay away from a West County body of water.
A massive amount sewage has leaked into Chesterfield Creek.
Authorities said the sewer main in the 14000 block of Olive Boulevard was damaged and more than 300,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the creek.
Authorities don't know if it was vandalism or an unreported construction accident.
The sewer has been fixed but cleanup is expected to last throughout the week.
