(KMOV) – A smoking ban in Clayton has now gone into effect.
Smoking is now only allowed in cigar bars and private clubs.
In addition to bars and restaurants, the ban also applies to hotels and offices.
Some restaurants have expanded outdoor dining areas where smoking will still be allowed.
If caught, violators can be fined $1,000 and be forced to serve up to 90 days in jail.
Clayton unanimously approved the smoking ban last summer.
