(KMOV)-- Police are investigating after a male union worker was struck by a vehicle in north St. Louis County.

This happened around 1:30 p.m. at Natural Bridge and Lucas and Hunt.

Authorities say an older woman driving an Acura crossed a median at the intersection of Lucas and Hunt and Natural Bridge. She continued driving down the wrong side of the street and sideswiped a car before striking a union worker protesting at a construction site.

The impact tossed the man about 25 to 20 feet.

The vehicle then hit a building and finally came to a stop.

Both the driver and union worker were taken to the hospital. The union worker is said to have a head injury and possibly broken bones. Both injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

No word yet on what caused the woman to hit the protester.
