MO man charged with Wood River residential burglary

(KMOV) – An Excelsior Springs, Mo. man has been charged for allegedly breaking and entering into a Wood River home.

Matthew Perks, 24, was taken into custody Sunday after a Wood River couple allegedly found Perks in their home, police said.
 
Authorities said Perks was walking down Illinois Route 143 when he allegedly jumped the Wood River couple’s fence and swam in their pool. Police said Perks then supposedly broke in to the couple’s home to find something to eat.
 
Police said the couple did not know Perks.
 
Perks indicated he was in town working for a pipeline company, according to authorities.
 
Bond for Perks was set at $50,000.
