ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster will investigate an exhibit of dead bodies from China scheduled to begin in October at the St. Louis Galleria mall.
A spokeswoman for Koster confirmed the investigation to KMOX Radio on Friday.
Missouri Rep. Todd Akin has filed legislation to bar preserved human remains from entering the U.S. from China. The bodies are used in anatomy exhibits featuring human cadavers.
A group representing St. Louis-area practitioners of Falun Gong sent a letter to the Galleria's parent company, saying it is "highly possible" some of the bodies may be those of political prisoners executed by the Chinese communist regime.
The Galleria says the planned October exhibit is still on for now.
