(KMOV) -- The St. Louis City Board of Alderman approved next year’s budget on Friday.
An $11 a month charge for trash collection will get final approval next week. That fee will appear on city residents’ water bill quarterly.
Along with the new trash fee, households will see another increase on their water bill. The price of water is going up 12%.
The water department says the increase is due to high pension costs and the skyrocketing price of chemicals.
The average water customer will see their bill go up about $2.60 a month.
