Group hopes to help turn around neighborhoods "crippled by crime"

(KMOV) -- A group hoping to turn around crime-ridden neighborhoods in St. Louis hosted a town hall meeting Thursday, and will be hosting more in the future.

Better Family Life said in a press release they will be encouraging residents to be active in their neighborhoods and families. They encourage residents of high crime areas to become active in their block.

The goal for the group is to offer guidance, understanding and resources, such as career training, to serve as alternatives to crime and violence.

Better Family Life said it has recieved "overwhelming" support for the meetings and are considering extending its series of town hall meetings to the 12 other high crime neighborhoods in the St. Louis area.
