Searchers with police dogs are canvassing a wooded area just north of a Winter and Front Streets in East St. Louis - where a body was found on fire Tuesday morning. Searchers with walking sticks are looking through the dense brush and tall grass. Police dogs are also on the scene.
The Major Case Squad says this search is related to the burned body case, but detectives will not say what searchers are looking for in this wooded area.
Investigators say this is a large crime scene and police will be on the scene for hours to come.
News4 also learned searchers were in the area Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, using a fire department rescue squad's flood light to guide searchers.
Today, the Major Case Squad will not say whether it knows the identity of the body found Tuesday. Early in the investigation, authorities said the body was badly burned and would be sent for an autopsy. At the time, investigators could not determine whether the person found was male or female.

I'll be on the scene following the investigation this evening.
