String of car break-ins continue at St. Mary's hospital

(KMOV) – For the second time in a month, police confirm another car break-in at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond Heights.

Employees are now asking what management is doing to ensure their safety. They stress that they are supportive of St. Mary’s and do not want to lose their jobs. But as car break-ins continue, they’re not only worried about their property, but also their safety.

Richmond Heights police say only one break-in was reported to them, and they say they are working with the hospital to stop the thefts.

News 4’s Laurie Waters reports.

Statement from St. Mary's:

At SSM St. Mary’s Health Center, the safety of our patients, visitors and staff are of the utmost importance. We continue to work closely with the Richmond Heights Police Department to investigate the incident from June 10 involving an employee’s vehicle.

In addition, we are boosting parking security by increasing the presence of plain-clothed, undercover security on foot patrols in our garages. We also have asked our employees to be vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious activity to our security team. We continue to evaluate measures that will help increase security on our campus.
