(KMOV) – A St. Charles man has been charged with murdering his twelve-week-old daughter.
Marlon Hines, 20, is charged with murder in the second-degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities say, 12-week-old baby, Aniya Hines, was pronounced dead at Barnes Hospital in St. Peters on May 31.
An autopsy revealed the baby had suffered from a lacerated liver, bruising to the thymus gland and fractured ribs.
The official cause of death was internal bleeding due to the lacerated liver.
Police interviewed the parents. Hines said while the mother was gone the child had soiled its diaper several times.
He said he put pressure on the girl’s chest to keep her from squirming while he changed the diaper.
The medical examiner confirms that the description of actions is consistent with the cause of death.
