Some call it binking and some call it bumping. It's a technique for breaking into cars. But the most common way thieves get into cars to steal stuff is pulling the door handle. Day after day I read police reports that list the things that are stolen out of unlocked cars. No criminal has the right to take someone else's things, but it really frustrates police that some people make it so easy for thieves.
Here's a list of items stolen from unlocked cars from just two days of police reports in Chesterfield.
GPS device (an item in 4 separate break-ins)
cell phone charger
Where does the stolen stuff go? An officer told me that 40-50% of the gps devices for sale on Craigslist were probably stolen. I bet you can find some real bargains.
